Space maintainer

When a baby tooth is prematurely extracted (the permanent one will not start to erupt within 3 months) a mechanism called “space maintainer” is need to keep the space open. Depending on the position of the loss, the general orthodontic status of the mouth and the prognosis of the other teeth, the space maintainer can be a simple little appliance to a large complicated mechanical device.
